Last year’s contest was held in the home of the VLT frequency converter – Denmark - where the winner was Conchita Wurst, an Austrian national. Therefore Austria will host the song contest this year.
The Vienna City Hall was chosen as the venue as it fulfills the contest specifications, housing around 13,500 spectators, with a sufficiently wide stage and corresponding ceiling height.
When nearly the 110,000 visitors and about 1700 journalists gasp in enthusiasm over the nine shows, they will need plenty of fresh air. VLT frequency converter controlled ventilation units will be right on hand to breathe new life into the Eurovision Song Contest. Around 18 frequency converters rated 3-75 kW will ensure that fresh air is imported in the right dosage into the crowded venue.
The Vienna City Hall maintains very high technical standards, as Austria's largest convention center with approximately one million visitors annually. With around 300 events each year, ventilation demands are at their highest, and are met in full by Danfoss VLT drives.
