New Vacon NXP drive, more power to the user

The AC drive manufacturer Vacon launches a new high-performance Vacon NXP to the market. Available up to 3 MW in voltages from 230 V to 690 V, the new drive is intended for demanding automation, motion control and machine building applications, incorporating the latest trends in functionality and options.

"In developing the new Vacon NXP, we wanted to create a perfect mix of user-friendliness and functionality. We have left the good things unchanged and focused on customer-requested functions and options. For this reason we can proudly say the new Vacon NXP is customer-driven from beginning to end," says Mr Jukka Kasi, Vice President for Product Management at Vacon.

The new drive incorporates a wealth of new and enhanced features. The default All-in-One application package now offers full 32-bit performance, and the NXP Application Package contains applications for Positioning Control and Shaft Synchronization, and the System Interface Application for use in demanding drive systems.

The new Vacon NXP can run both standard induction motors and permanent magnet synchronous motors in all configurations from servo to dedicated high-speed permanent magnet motors. New feedback device support has been added for absolute encoders and resolvers in addition to traditional incremental pulse encoders. Furthermore, the integrated safe disable function allows system designers to design safe and cost-efficient solutions for the use and maintenance of their systems.

Support for Ethernet TCP/IP communication and other services are now also available, allowing a higher degree of flexibility in system and machine integration, e.g. in configuring and monitoring several drives at a time via the Internet.

"It is unique on the market that one single product range offers such a high level of functionality and brain performance, starting from motor powers less than one kilowatt and reaching several megawatts. I am convinced that our customers and partners will welcome this new product," says Mr Heikki Hil-tunen, Vice President, Marketing and Sales.
