With the new generation of the DSD range of servo motors in sizes 45 to 100, technology leader Baumüller is setting new standards in drive technology. In future the customer will profit from an enhanced performance spectrum in terms of speed and torque, as well as a more compact construction. Productivity and dynamics will be greatly improved as a result of the increased speed range of up to 6,000 rpm. In addition, sizes 71 to 100 are now also available with water cooling.
The new cooling option does not only reduce the noise level and surface temperature of the motor; water-cooled servo motors also exhibit more than twice the power density compared to uncooled versions and can also then be used when surface ventilation cannot be employed due to particular ambient conditions. Thus optimum matching to the particular cooling concept is achieved.
Visually, the DSD2 motors have been carried over to the more compact housing design of the DSC ranges of motors. The servo motors will of course continue to have a universal, slim housing design with a smooth surface with low susceptibility to dirt.
The new features not only increase the efficiency of the motors and the economy for the user. At the same time, any contamination or restrictions when using the motors in existing machines are a thing of the past. Furthermore the use of basic performance encoders with the new generation of DSD2 motors is feasible. With this expansion of the transducer portfolio, optimum scalability of the motor to the particular dynamic application is possible.
While DSC motors score as a result of their high torque density, DSD2 motors are used everywhere that high dynamics are required. The flexibility for mechanical engineers is increased as a result of the standardised mechanical configuration and identical interfaces.
