With the Sinamics G120, Siemens Automation and Drives (A&D) supplements the Sinamics drives family in the output range between 0.37 and 90 kW. The new frequency inverter is designed for voltages between 380 and 480 V and offers vector control, voltage frequency control and flux current control (FCC). Sinamics G120 is characterized by its modular design and can thus be adapted to the specific requirements of an application.
With the new G120 frequency inverter, Siemens A&D has supplemented the Sinamics range of drives in the output range below 100 kW at voltages between 380 and 480 V. The Power Module and the Control Unit of the Sinamics G120 are designed as separate, replaceable function units and are freely combinable. Depending on the application area, the Control Units are equipped with different analog and digital inputs and outputs, as well as different connections for motor protection equipment. In addition, different communication interfaces are available via RS485 or Profibus with Profidrive 4.0.
The PM240 Power Module has already been equipped with a brake chopper that enables simple braking of rotating loads with a connected brake resistor. In addition, the PM240 is suitable for use in safety-critical applications. A Safety Control Unit turns the drive into a Safety Integrated drive.
Sinamics G120 offers safety functions in accordance with Category 3 (EN 954-1) and SIL2 (IEC 61508). The safety functions can be controlled either via safe digital inputs (FDIs) or directly via Profisafe. For this purpose, either the failsafe digital inputs or the Profibus interface can be parameterized in accordance with the relevant configuration. Parameterization is carried out for all applications using the basic operator panel (BOP) or the Starter parameterization software. Parameters can be loaded simply and quickly (cloning) via a micro memory card (MMC) or BOP.
The new frequency inverter is extremely rugged thanks to the paint finish on the electronics modules and the external heat sink. The electronics modules are not located in the ventilating duct but are convection-cooled.
